Risk Shell AI

Risk Shell AI is a natural-language interaction and assistance layer integrated with the Risk Shell investment management platform. It allows users to work with Risk Shell functionality, analytical concepts and portfolio workflows using ordinary financial language while retaining the platform's established graphical interface and quantitative engines.

The AI layer does not replace Risk Shell's underlying analytical models. Portfolio optimization, factor analysis, stress testing, peer-group analysis and other calculations continue to be performed by the corresponding Risk Shell engines. Risk Shell AI provides the interface between the user, the platform's functionality and the extensive body of product and investment-management knowledge accumulated through more than two decades of development.

Natural-Language Access To Risk Shell

Users can describe an analytical task, ask how a particular Risk Shell function should be configured, or request guidance on an investment problem without having to locate the relevant menu, manual page or training material first. The AI interprets the request in the context of Risk Shell terminology and workflows and provides guidance appropriate to the platform rather than generic financial-software instructions. A query is translated into a screening rule, a factor model, a stress test, a peer comparison, a FlexiRank specification or an optimization, and run on the same data and the same models as the GUI. It is not a general finance chatbot attached to a portfolio system.

  • Ask questions about Risk Shell functions and analytical procedures using natural language.
  • Receive context-specific guidance while working within the Risk Shell GUI.
  • Understand portfolio construction, optimization, factor analysis, stress testing and other quantitative workflows without searching separate manuals.
  • Obtain explanations of Risk Shell statistics, analytical settings and model outputs in an investment-management context.
  • Move from an investment question to the relevant Risk Shell workflow more directly.

In-House Financial LLM Trained On 2.3 Billion Tokens

Risk Shell AI is based on an in-house language model trained on approximately 2.3 billion tokens of financial, quantitative and Risk Shell-specific material. The training corpus was constructed around the terminology and workflows used by investment professionals rather than around general-purpose conversational content.

A significant part of the training material was derived from ABC Quant's own product knowledge base, including thousands of recorded Risk Shell training sessions, tutorials and instructional videos accumulated over many years. This gives the model detailed knowledge of both the platform interface and the way individual analytical components are used in practice. The assistant therefore uses the product’s own objects — trailing and closed windows, factor shocks, stress-database estimates, importance weights, differential-evolution constraints — rather than a generic description of them.

  • Risk Shell product documentation and technical manuals.
  • Thousands of recorded training and tutorial videos.
  • Investment analytics and quantitative finance material.
  • Portfolio construction and risk-management workflows.
  • Risk Shell terminology, component relationships and operating procedures.

AI Assistance Inside The Investment Workflow

Risk Shell AI was designed as an operational layer within an institutional investment platform, not as a separate general-purpose chatbot. Its knowledge spans both software operation and the investment logic behind the platform's analytical tools.

This is particularly important in areas such as portfolio construction and optimization, where useful assistance requires more than explaining where a control is located. The AI can place portfolio constraints, objective functions, factor sensitivities, liquidity requirements, stress-test results and other Risk Shell concepts within the context of the investment problem being analysed.

  • Portfolio construction: guidance on portfolio structure, allocation methods, diversification and portfolio constraints.
  • Portfolio optimization: explanation of objective functions, optimization settings, factor constraints, liquidity constraints and stress-test constraints.
  • Risk analytics: interpretation of volatility, VaR, CVaR, drawdowns, tail-risk statistics and other Risk Shell measures.
  • Factor analysis: assistance with factor selection, sensitivities, regression analysis and interpretation of factor-model results.
  • Stress testing: guidance on Risk Shell stress-test databases, scenario analysis and portfolio-level stress assessment.
  • Platform operation: assistance with Risk Shell components, settings, workflows and data-management procedures.

Beyond Conventional Software Support

Risk Shell AI substantially changes the support model for the platform. Routine questions that previously required a real-time support manager can now be handled directly within the software environment, including questions about GUI operation, analytical methodology and portfolio construction.

The scope is broader than conventional first-line software support because the system has been trained not only on product operation but also on the financial and quantitative concepts implemented throughout Risk Shell. Users can therefore obtain assistance with both how a function is used and why a particular analytical method or setting may be relevant to the portfolio under review.

Human involvement remains available for implementation, specialized research and unusual client-specific requirements, while day-to-day product and analytical assistance can be delivered directly through the Risk Shell AI layer.

Natural language instead of the GUI

The Risk Shell interface is built for the full analytical set: more than 100 risk statistics, factor subsets, stress-event libraries, peer axes, FlexiRank™ weights and optimization constraints. Reaching the right control takes complex navigation. A natural-language query specifies the task and the parameters directly, and can also carry out the analysis rather than only open the screen. Examples of Risk Shell natural language queries:

  • Screen equity long/short funds with maximum drawdown under 7% on the last 36 months, beta to the S&P 500 under 0.4, management company in the UK, and exclude non-reporting funds.
  • Rank this wallet using FlexiRank™ statistics: CVaR, Max Drawdown, Annualized return, extreme event max loss, TUW, semi-deviation, and Positive %. Assign max importance to VaR.
  • Show the multi-statistic peer chart for these five funds against the equity long/short universe, use default stats and add 2008 and Greek-crisis losses as axes.
  • Optimize this fund of funds on CVaR, with liquidity constraints and beta to credit capped, in background mode.
  • Fit a returns-based factor model on this manager for the last five years and list the retained factors.
