About ABC Quant
ABC Quant develops institutional investment technology for alternative and multi-asset investors. Our software, financial data and quantitative research tools support hedge fund managers, fund of funds, family offices, institutional investors, consultants and investment research organizations across the investment workflow.
Institutional Investment Technology Since the Early 2000s
ABC Quant's investment technology development dates back to the early 2000s, with the company incorporated in 2005 by Dr. Andrew Grauberg, an alternative-investment specialist with hands-on experience in hedge fund-of-funds management, quantitative manager research and portfolio risk analysis.
From the beginning, ABC Quant's focus has been on combining quantitative investment research with practical software for professional investors operating in alternative and multi-asset markets. This practitioner-led approach has shaped the development of the company's analytical models, portfolio construction tools and investment-management workflows.
Our work spans risk management, manager and asset selection, portfolio construction, financial data, alternative investment analytics and portfolio management. Rather than separating research, analytics and portfolio operations into disconnected systems, ABC Quant develops technologies designed to support the complete institutional investment process.
From Quant Suite to Risk Shell
In 2007, ABC Quant introduced Quant Suite, a desktop investment analysis platform developed for hedge fund risk assessment, manager research and fund-of-funds portfolio construction. The platform was subsequently used by institutional investors worldwide and provided the technological foundation for Risk Shell.
Risk Shell was released in 2013 as a browser-based Software as a Service platform for alternative investment management. Its modular architecture brings together asset and manager selection, factor analysis, stress testing, peer-group analysis, portfolio construction and optimization, holdings-based analysis, private equity analytics, investment reporting and other institutional research workflows within one environment.
Risk Shell can combine institutional data feeds, proprietary datasets and user-created assets with access to a multi-asset investment universe of more than 550,000 instruments. The platform can be configured by module and extended with institution-specific analytics, data structures and workflows.
Portfolio Management and Shadow Accounting
For institutions that require portfolio operations alongside investment analytics, FoF Manager extends the Risk Shell environment with portfolio management and shadow accounting for alternative and multi-asset portfolios. Its functionality includes transaction management, liquidity analysis, portfolio limit control, exposure analysis, cash-flow projection, multi-class fund management and transaction audit tools.
Risk Shell and FoF Manager are designed to work together, allowing portfolio allocations developed through Risk Shell risk-budgeting and optimization models to be transferred into operational portfolio workflows.
Built for Institutional Investment Workflows
Alternative investments frequently require analytical and operational workflows that cannot be reduced to standard market-data or portfolio management templates. Illiquid assets, complex redemption terms, proprietary classifications, non-normal return distributions, custom benchmarks and institution-specific data all require greater flexibility.
Risk Shell therefore uses a modular architecture rather than a fixed product configuration. Institutions can select the components relevant to their investment process, use pre-configured Risk Shell editions, and extend the platform as their requirements evolve.
Risk Shell AI adds a natural-language layer to this environment, providing access to investment research, risk analytics and portfolio workflows through conversational queries while preserving the underlying analytical framework of Risk Shell.
Research, Software and Long-Term Development
Under the direction of founder Dr. Andrew Grauberg, ABC Quant has continued to combine quantitative research, software engineering, financial data management and investment-domain expertise within one development organization.
This combination allows us to build tools around real institutional investment problems rather than adapting generic software to alternative-investment workflows.
